According to Sky Sports, Brighton & Hove Albion are interested in signing Jack O’Connell following a speedbump in their pursuit of Liam Moore. The 24-year-old has been impressing teams around the country in his last two years with Sheffield United, with the Seagulls, in particular, looking into the possibility of bringing him down south.
O’Connell appeared in all 46 Championship games for the Blades last season, and would certainly fit the criteria of manager Chris Hughton’s defensive desires. Brighton were able to comfortably stay up in the Premier League last season, but now comes the task of trying to solidify themselves as a top flight team for years to come.
O’Connell’s development began a few years back with Blackburn Rovers and in that time he’s bounced around a series of clubs, although it’s his tenure at Bramall Lane that has really opened people’s eyes to what he’s capable of from a centre-back standpoint.
