Brighton and Hove Albion are interested in signing Marc Cucurella from Getafe, according to Brighton-based newspaper The Argus.
The 22-year-old rose through the academy ranks at Barcelona and earned first-team promotion in 2018. He was sent out on loan to SD Eibar straight away and returned to the Camp Nou a year later, only to be shipped out on another temporary spell to Getafe which was made permanent for €10 million in 2020. In 2020-21, he made 39 appearances for the club in all competitions, starting 37 matches in La Liga and came off the bench twice in the Copa del Rey. He scored three goals and assisted his teammates twice.
Primarily a left-sided midfielder, Cucurella is also capable of doing the job at left-back and as a winger.
It is believed that the one-cap Spain international has a buyout clause of around £15m in a contract running until 2024. Some reports in Spain have suggested that the Seagulls had an offer of £13m turned down, but The Argus say that the claim is wide of the mark at this point.
