Brighton ready record bid for Lawrence

Brighton and Hove Albion are ready to smash their transfer record in an attempt to sign Leicester City midfielder Tom Lawrence, according to the Mirror.

The Seagulls already paid a record fee for goalkeeper Matthew Ryan earlier this summer, and are expected to lay out an even bigger amount if they finalise a deal for Lawrence.

The twenty-three year old faced Brighton, who won the Championship title last term, twice last season during a year-long loan spell with Ipswich Town.

Lawrence has made just four appearances for the Foxes since signing from Manchester United in the summer of 2014 having had temporary stints with Rotherham United, Blackburn Rovers and Cardiff City prior to moving to Portman Road twelve months ago.

He impressed with Mick McCarthy’s side making thirty-six appearances in all competitions, scoring eleven goals making him the club’s top scorer.

Internationally, he has been capped six times for Wales.
