Handed a golden chance to extend on their eye-catching run of form, Brisbane will welcome a rock-bottom Central Coast to the Suncorp Stadium on Friday morning.

Starting with the hosts, putting in another rampant display and picking up a 3-1 win over Western Sydney Wanderers last weekend, Brisbane have continued on quite the run of form under new boss, Robbie Fowler. With their sights set on mounting a charge for the AFC Champions League spots and continuing to shine in the final third, the former Liverpool icon has seen his side win three of their last five A-League outings. More impressive, tasting defeat just twice since the middle of December, the Roar have also shown their strengths at the Suncorp Stadium. Including that thumping victory last weekend, Brisbane are unbeaten on home soil since opening the New Year, a run that has also seen them land back-to-back victories against Adelaide and high-flyers Wellington.

As for the visitors, putting in what was another defensive horror show in their 3-1 hammering against the Phoenix last weekend, it is no surprise that Central Coast are once again a landslide favorite to lift the wooden spoon this year. Still rooted to the foot of the A-League table and in the midst of a woeful eight-match losing run, there is no doubt that fans around Gosford will be most concerned by their side’s continued issues at the back. Once again comfortably holding the worst-defensive record in the A-League, Friday’s guests have shipped a staggering 12 goals in just their last three defeats. With that run highlighted by a 6-2 hammering away at Western United in their last appearance on the road, Friday should be yet another long morning for Alen Stajcic’s strugglers.
