Competition: Championship
Market: Bristol City win
Odds: 19/10 @ 888sport
Looking to lay down another marker and continue on their early-season purple patch, Bristol City will make the trip to what is a downbeat City Ground on Saturday afternoon.
Starting with the hosts, while Nottingham Forest might have made it clear that they had their sights set on finally landing a play-off spot this season, the Reds couldn’t have got off to a worse start this time around. With it appearing that the pressure is firmly on Sabri Lamouchi’s shoulders as we enter October, Forest were last seen getting hit with a 1-0 defeat away at Huddersfield, a run that highlighted an abysmal run of form. Almost throwing away their spot in the top-six over the summer after signing off the 2019/2020 campaign with that stunning 4-1 defeat against Stoke on home soil back in July, Forest have lost all four of their competitive contests so far this season. Also falling out the EFL Cup at the hands of Barnsley last month, it should also be noted that Lamouchi’s side are yet to record a single goal across any format since making their return to action.
As for the visitors, while the mood around the City Ground appears to be at a real low, Bristol City have impressed many since heading into October. While defeat against Premier League outfit Aston Villa might have ended their EFL Cup adventure last month, new boss Dean Holden has certainly made an immediate impact at Ashton Gate. Last seen on Championship duties picking up a deserved 2-0 win against Sheffield Wednesday on home soil, the Robins are one of just two sides, along with Reading, who can boast a 100% start to the 2020/2021 campaign. Enjoying what has been a real free-scoring run of form and already collecting victories over the likes of a high-flying Stoke on their travels last month, there is no doubt that Holden’s new squad will travel to the City Ground confident of cashing in on their recent purple patch this weekend.
