Competition: Championship
Market: Bristol City
Odds: 8/5 @ Bet 365
In desperate need of a win, Steve Bruce’s struggling Aston Villa side will travel to Ashton Gate on Friday night to face a Bristol City who have their own playoff dreams.
Starting with the hosts, while the Robins might be coming off the back of a pair of defeats on the road against high flyers West Brom and Wigan last weekend, Lee Johnson does have his sights set on a surprise top six finish. Thanks to summer signing Andreas Weimann grabbing five Championship goals since moving from Derby, the Robbins have won their last two home matches on the bounce. Beating a very impressive Sheffield United side and also putting four past Blackburn at Ashton Gate, the hosts should fancy their chances of adding to the pressure on Steve Bruce.
As for the former Hull boss, while they may have reached the playoff final last season and also found some much needed new investment, Aston Villa are going through a mini-crisis. Coming off the back of a very disappointing 2-1 loss at home to Sheffield Wednesday last weekend, Bruce’s men were booed off the pitch at Villa Park. Aside from a 2-0 win over Rotherham, the Villans now have just one win in their last eight matches in all competitions, including crashing out of the League Cup at the hands of lower league Burton Albion.
