Bruce confirm Bejani talks

Sunderland boss Steve Bruce has confirmed they are in talks with Manchester City striker Benjani over a move.

Bruce is keen to bring in Benjani in the January transfer window to help boost his attack.

Bruce said: “We are having talks with his agents about the player. We feel we are all juggling the balls in the air and you hope the squad is big enough and strong enough. We are light in the strike area. We are making a move and we will try and make a move. We have entered negotiations.

“The players has been offered deals elsewhere. We will have to match them. We have not got there yet. We hope, but not by the end of the day.

“It has become available. As managers and chairmen we are looking and thinking we have been unfortunate with injuries. If something happened to Benty have we got sufficient cover?“
