(GSM) – Sunderland manager Steve Bruce has ruled out signing Peter Crouch from Tottenham Hotspur despite his interest in the tall striker.

Bruce says he has heard from Spurs boss Harry Redknapp and claims the latter would not let Crouch leave White Hart Lane.

Bruce looking to reinforce his striking options following the £8million sale of Kenwyne Jones to Stoke City on Wednesday.

However, the Black Cats’ boss admits that such a transfer is unlikely to go through.

Bruce told reporters: “I’ve heard from Harry and I don’t think he’ll let Crouch go.”
