Sunderland boss Steve Bruce has confirmed that he is still interested in signing Wigan midfielder Lee Cattermole.
Wigan have turned down an bid for the 21-year-old from Sunderland and insists they are not looking to sell the England Under 21 international.
Sunderland are reported to have increased their bid to £6million for Cattermole.
“The bid was knocked back, but when Niall Quinn comes back in two days we’ll see if we can make it happen,” said Bruce in the Daily Mirror.
“I’ve not given up.
“We all know money talks and I’ve made it obvious with the bid for Lee that he’s a player I like.”
