Club Brugge struggled to a narrow victory over Charleroi on Saturday, in order to restore the five-point gap with leaders Anderlecht.

Following Anderlecht’s 1-0 win over Kortrijk on Friday, Brugge needed a win as well to make sure that the gap would not grow to a massive eight points.

For a long time, it looked like Brugge would not do better than a goalless draw at Jan Breydel Stadium, despite playing against ten opponents following a red card to Charleroi’s Alessandro Cordaro in the 25th minute.

But in minute 77, the hosts finally took advantage of that situation as Dorge Kouemaha hit the target for 1-0.

Third-placed Germinal Beerschot earned a convincing 3-0 win over Roeselare, with goals from Sherjill MacDonald and Faris Haroun (2).
