Atletico Madrid are weighing up summer move for Zenit defender Bruno Alves, according to Marca.
Even if there is another four months until the start of the summer transfer window, los Colchoneros are already working on finding reinforcements for the 2013/2014 season.
The La Liga high-flyers have reached an agreement in principle with Rayo Vallecano forward Lao Baptistao, and Marca now claims they are stepping up their efforts to sign Bruno Alves.
With Diego Godin expected to leave Vicente Calderon in the summer, the club officials believe the Portuguese defender would be a perfect replacement.
Alves, 31, boasts a great deal of experience and should be able to slot straight into the starting line-up.
He is no longer considered a first team regular at Zenit and with his contract due to expire in June 2014, the Russian club will most likely be prepared to negotiate his sale at the end of the current campaign.
