Bruno calls for Lille focus

Lille striker Gianni Bruno has urged his side to remain focused against Dijon on Saturday as they chase a Champions League berth.

Lille head into their trip to Dijon in third place in Ligue 1, which comes with a qualifying spot to next season’s Champions League, six points ahead of Lyon and Toulouse.

But with six games left to play Bruno says Lille must realise the job is not over.

“We hold a strong six point advantage over Lyon and Toulouse but it still means nothing at the moment,” the Belgian striker said.

“We’ve seen it ourselves first-hand. Before playing Brest all was well, but that defeat has made us re-focus.

“So we know how it can all change very fast, and that means we must maintain our concentration”.

The reigning Ligue 1 champions looked to be in control of third place two weeks ago, but lost 3-1 to Brest to give Lyon and Toulouse an opportunity to close the gap.

Bruno says the key will be to keep focused on each game as they come.

“After the defeat to Brest, we have had to re-focus,” Bruno said.

“Now we don’t care about what happens below or above us in the league, we just look forward to our next game against Dijon.

“We always try our best to secure all three points every time we play.”
