Chris Brunt is closing in on a new twelve month deal with West Bromwich Albion, according to the Express and Star.
The long serving midfielder is currently under contract until the end of the season but could now extend his stay by a further year after playing enough games to trigger a clause that was inserted the last time he put pen to paper.
The thirty-three year old has struggled with injury since the summer but has still managed to rack up thirteen league appearances in what is his eleventh campaign with the Midlands outfit.
In total, Brunt has played three hundred and fifty-nine appearances for the Baggies in all competitions, scoring forty-six goals.
He was part of the squads that won promotion to the top flight in both 2008 and 2010 while he was named the club’s Player of the Year in 2009.
Internationally, he has been capped sixty-five times for Northern Ireland, scoring thrice.
