(GSM) – Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon has quashed rumors linking him with a move to Manchester United.
The Italy international’s future has been the subject of transfer speculation after he missed a team photo shoot and had not been spotted in many of Juventus’ games so far this season.
Interviewed in Tuttosport, the goalkeeper said: “I am used to living with these rumours. It’s been six years that people have been speaking about Manchester United, but it doesn’t seem to me like anything has ever happened.”
Buffon is suffering from back injury which peaked during Italy’s dismal World Cup campaign.
Buffon said: “Everything is going according to plan. I will return in the time that was pre-established, so in January.
“You suffer more [being out of the team]. There is no doubt. I am not used to it, but these are things that form part of a sportsman’s life.
“A strong team is being born at Juventus. Things are improving week by week. It’s the right path.
“All [the new signings] are doing well, citing only one wouldn’t be right. The group must be celebrated, because right now it’s that which is making the difference.”
