According to a recent report from Tuttosport, veteran goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon could be on his way to Portuguese giants Porto. The legendary Italian made it known that he is going to be leaving Paris Saint-Germain at the conclusion of his current contract, which opens up the door for a variety of interesting possibilities. In terms of the Porto links, Buffon would be replacing Iker Casillas, after the 38 year old recently suffered a heart attack.
Buffon may be 41 years of age but he can certainly still do a job for a high level team in the realms of European football, as he has been able to consistently prove ever since he hit his mid 30s.
It seems like it is true what they say: goalkeepers do, in fact, hit their prime later than most players.
Either way, though, it’s going to be a very interesting few months for Buffon over the summer.
