Buffon turned down Manchester City

“I later had a very big offer from Manchester City, when they started to build the team and become the most important side in Europe. They wanted me to be the first signing, but I stayed at Juve”.

Those are the words of Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon, who confirmed that he once received an offer from Premier League champions Manchester City to move to the Etihad. Buffon, 41, spent 17 years of his career with Juventus, and decided to stick with the Italian club as opposed to moving over to English football.

Buffon is considered to be one of the greatest goalkeepers of all time, and now that he’s in the final stage of his career, it seems as if he’s more comfortable discussing everything he’s experienced throughout his time in the sport. Buffon also revealed that Manchester United were very interested in him when he was a youngster with Parma.
