(GSM) – Italy kick off their World Cup campaign tonight with a match against Paraguay. Goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon believes they are up for a challenging match.
“Paraguay are a tough, difficult team propelled by a strong sense of patriotism,” said Buffon.
“We too are ready and will try to give the people of Italy further joy in a World Cup.
“The idea is to live through strong emotional scenes, like we did four years ago, but we have to stay calm.
“This is not the time to be rushing ahead of ourselves.”
Buffon is one of the Italians that won the tournament in 2006 but admits to a few nerves ahead of the South Africa tournament.
“These are competitions in which every moment can become important, so a little fear is more than justified, as you always want to be up to the task.”
