Levski Sofia had to come from behind to beat lowly Pirin 3-2 in the Bulgarian A League on Tuesday.

Pirin took a surprise lead six minutes in when Ivan Tsvetkov latched onto a long ball and fired home.

Sofia replied on 33 minutes with Jeanvion Yulu-Matondo heading in Veselin Meniv’s cross.

The visitors went ahead in the second half as Garra Dembele produced a smart finish to put Sofia 2-1 up with 66 minutes gone for his 21st of the season.

Twelve minutes later Hristo Yovov’s long-range drive put the visitors 3-1 ahead.

Pirin were given a lifeline late on when Serginho Greene handled in the area and Tsvetkov converted from the spot for his second of the game.

But it was not enough for the home side as Sofia secured a 3-2 victory to cut the gap on leaders Litex Lovech to five points.
