Bundesliga preview: Back to business for Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund will look to maintain their focus after a blockbuster win over Bayern Munich when they host Cologne on Friday.

Leading the Bundesliga by 12 points with 10 games to go, complacency now seems the only danger for Juergen Klopp’s side, who will play just two of their remaining matches against sides in the top five.

Their clash against Bayern Munich at Allianz Arena on Sunday was billed as a season-defining match, but Klopp’s men made it look easy en route to a 3-1 win that effectively ended the title hopes of Louis van Gaal’s side.

But Cologne will be up for the fight as – despite lying in 11th place – they are just five points clear of the relegation zone, ensuring results are at a premium.

The pick of this weekend’s fixtures is on Saturday, when Bayern will be desperate to bounce back from their loss to Dortmund and leapfrog Hannover back into third when the two sides do battle at AWD-Arena.

Elsewhere on Saturday, second-placed Bayer Leverkusen will look to keep faint pressure on the leaders when they host relegation battlers Wolfsburg, and Eintracht Frankfurt will be keen to break a winless streak in the league that extends back to December 19 when they welcome Kaiserslautern.

Bottom side Borussia Moenchengladbach are still five points short of safety and will be looking for some welcome relief in their home clash with ninth-placed Hoffenheim, while eighth plays 12th when St Pauli travel to Nuremberg.

Stuttgart are second from the bottom but could haul themselves clear of the drop zone should they beat Schalke at home and other results fall their way.

On Sunday, Mainz, who are fifth, take on sixth-placed Hamburg with both sides still very much in the running for a Champions League qualifying spot, while Werder Bremen will look to put more daylight between themselves and the bottom three when they visit Freiburg.
