Bayern Munich defender Holger Badstuber is targeting Bundesliga glory as his team prepare for their season-opener against Greuther Fuerth.
Badstuber believes Bayern cannot afford to miss out on a Bundesliga title for a third-straight season after Borussia Dortmund’s dominance over the past two seasons.
Newly promoted Greuther Fuerth are Bayern’s first challenge of the new season and may face a tough debut in Germany’s top flight with their Bavarian neighbours so focused on success this season.
“The Bundesliga is my top priority,” Badstuber said as Bayern continued their preparations for Saturday’s match.
“We can’t afford to slip up there again.
“Last year we had a very good spell, but it was too short.”
Dutch winger Arjen Robben believes Bayern are ready to go for the new league season after victory over Dortmund in the German Super Cup and a win in the opening round of the DFB Pokal.
“We’ve made a good start,” Robben said.
“We’ve won the Supercup and the first cup match.
“We’re ready for the Bundesliga now.”
Bayern will be without Bastian Schweinsteiger after he picked up a foot injury in a pre-season friendly earlier this month.
With doubts over the German midfielder’s fitness, Bayern hope talks with Athletic Bilbao target Javi Martinez can advance, with both sides yet to agree a fee.
