Bundesliga Wrap: Braunschweig, Monchengladbach goalkeeper own-goal double

The Eintracht Braunschweig and Borussia Monchengladbach goalkeepers both scored own goals as the Bundesliga sides drew 1-1 on Saturday.

Braunschweig goalkeeper Daniel Davari was the first to put through his own net at the Eintracht Stadion as he failed to collect an inswinging corner and watched the ball hit his thigh and rebound in.

It was then Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s turn to make a blunder after he failed to deal with a seemingly easy backpass from Filip Daems as the ball rolled over his foot and into the net.

The result means Braunschweig remain rock bottom, while Monchengladbach are seventh.

Runaway leaders Bayern Munich were on top form again in cruising to a 5-1 victory over 10-man Schalke at the Allianz Arena to make it 48 games unbeaten in the Bundesliga.

Arjen Robben bagged a hat-trick to help seal a comfortable win over Jens Keller’s side and David Alaba and Mario Mandzukic also netted against Schalke, who had Kyriakos Papadopoulos sent off.

Sami Hyypia saw his Bayer Leverkusen side continue their form slump following a third straight Bundesliga defeat, this time faltering 1-0 at the hands of Mainz.

Leverkusen slide down to third after Borussia Dortmund defeated Nurnberg 3-0.

Jurgen Klopp’s men were sent on their way by second-half goals from Mats Hummels and Robert Lewandowski before Henrikh Mkhitaryan was on target after 83 minutes.

Werder Bremen took the bragging rights and all three points against local rivals Hamburg with 1-0 victory, while Augsburg missed the opportunity to move into the top six as they shared the spoils with Hannover in a 1-1 draw at the Augsburg Arena.
