AS Roma defender Nicolas Burdisso has rejected speculations linking him with a January return to Argentina.
The 32-year-old has struggled for regular playing time following the summer arrival of Mehdi Benatia and he was believed to be pondering a winter exit.
His former club Boca Juniors are reportedly ready to offer him an escape route from Stadio Olimpico, but the veteran defender is not yet ready to return to his native country.
“For the time being, I do not want to return to Argentina,” Burdisso told Italian newspaper Il Tempo.
“Boca Juniors? I was clear when I spoke to the president, I still have goals to achieve in Europe.”
It was at Boca Juniors that Burdisso began his professional career and went on to make 102 league appearances before joining Inter in 2004.
He made a move to Roma in the summer of 2010 and has since featured in 98 Serie A games for the Giallorossi, scoring 6 goals.
The Stadio Olimpico outfit face a tricky trip to San Siro on Monday, but they are 21/10 to see off AC Milan on the road.
