Burnely eye Forster loan

Burnley are readying a move for out-of-favour Southampton goalkeeper Fraser Forster, according to the Express.

The Clarets need reinforcements after Nick Pope – England’s third choice goalkeeper for this summer’s World Cup finals in Russia – was ruled out for up to six months with a shoulder injury he sustained in last Thursday’s Europa League qualifier with Aberdeen.

With fellow England international Tom Heaton also sidelined former Manchester United man Anders Lindergaard is set to deputise but manager Sean Dyche is bring in Forster on loan ahead of next weekend’s Premier League kick-off.

The thirty-year-old former Celtic man lost his place to Alex McCarthy half way through last season and has moved further down the pecking order at St Mary’s following the arrival of Angus Gunn from Manchester City.

In total he has played one hundred and twenty-four times in all competitions for the south coast club over four seasons.
