Burnley are ready to offer Michael Keane a new contract in an attempt to fend off interest from Chelsea, according to the Mirror.
The twenty-three year old has been strongly linked with a move to the Blues in recent weeks while Premier League champions Leicester City are also interest in securing his services.
Keane has drafted into the England squad for the first time following an injury to Stoke City’s Glen Johnson, who himself was inline to make a first appearance since the 2014 World Cup finals.
With the Three Lions strong favourites to beat Malta at the weekend, Keane could be handed his senior international debut – a move that is likely to see him receive even more interest.
Since moving to Turf Moor from Manchester United, initially on loan in the summer of 2014 the defender has made seventy-six appearances in all competitions, scoring six goals.
