Talksport understand the Burnley are preparing an improved contract for Nick Pope in a bid to deter interest from Newcastle United.
The twenty-five year old made his Premier League debut this season following an injury to Tom Heaton and has since played twenty-seven times in the top flight, keeping ten clean sheets.
His form has seen him called up to the England squad and he could make his international debut against the Netherlands on Friday evening.
Prior to his switch to the Clarets, Pope spent five years with Charlton Athletic though spent much of his time at the club out on loan.
Burnley sit seventh in the Premier League, and that could be enough for them to secure qualification for Europe next season, depending on the outcome of other competitions.
The Lancashire club are currently three points clear of eighth place Leicester City with just eight games left to play.
