Burnley to terminate Drinkwater loan deal

Danny Drinkwater is not doing well these days. At least not to the levels he used to, as he might be getting back to Chelsea following a poor spell on the loan. According to the Mail, Burnley are expected to send the midfielder back to the Blues this coming January.

Drinkwater has made just one appearance for the Clarets since joining them on a six-month loan from Chelsea in August, which was in the EFL Cup defeat to League One side Sunderland in October. His time at Turf Moor has been a rocky one, with Drinkwater being unable to break into Sean Dyche’s team.

Burnley have the option to extend the loan until the end of the season, for another six months, but looking at the way things have been going, that seems unlikely to happen, meaning Drinkwater will return to Stamford Bridge when the window reopens in January 2020.
