David Beckham may miss Prince William and Duchess of Cambridge Kate’s visit to the US because of Major League Soccer commitments.
The Los Angeles Galaxy midfielder has several obligations when the US celebrate their Independence Day on July 4, with his side facing Seattle and the possible arrival of his first daughter.
Beckham, who also married Victoria on July 4, 1999, said Monday was set to be a special day.
“You know, it’s a big day for everyone in this country, people in the country, such a special day. And obviously we got married on July 4, 12 years ago, Monday, so it’s a special day for us, it always has been and always will be,” he said on Saturday.
“In ways (this Monday will be) more special because we will be wearing the new (Galaxy) kit as well on Monday and hopefully we will win the game, so it’s going to be a busy day.”
He admits he will most probably miss the visit of Prince William and Princess Kate, whose wedding he attended in April, but he was hopeful of seeing them at some point.
“You know, they’re only here for two days, short stay, and their schedule is always really so jammed packed, but I know there is a couple of events, one that we’re invited to,” Beckham said.
“But unfortunately I don’t think we will be able to make it just because I have a game the night after, so I’m not allowed to go to events the night before a game.”
Beckham’s wife, Victoria, is due to give birth to the couple’s fourth child on the day the Western Conference leading Galaxy meet the second-placed Seattle.
