Stoke City’s Jack Butland is keen to go out on loan as he hopes to boost his chances of being part of England’s World Cup party, the Mirror understands.
Victory in Ukraine tomorrow (Tuesday) evening will put Roy Hodgson’s men in pole position to qualify for next summer’s tournament in Brazil, and Butland wants to be involved if they make it.
He is yet to make an appearance for Stoke City since signing from Birmingham City in January, though he spent the second half of last season back on loan at St Andrews.
Even more worryingly for the 20 year old, is that he has only made the substitute bench in one of the Potters four matches this season, with Thomas Sorenson and number one Asmir Begovic ahead of him in the pecking order.
Sporting Lisbon and Sheffield Wednesday are both interested in securing his services for the remainder of the campaign, and manager Mark Hughes is considering which would be of more benefit to the U21 international in the long term.
