Yohan Cabaye is eagerly awaiting a chance to perform on the big stage as Newcastle United prepare for their Europa League campaign.
Newcastle finished fifth in the English Premier League last season, in what was just their second campaign back in the top flight after gaining promotion in 2009/10.
France international Cabaye believes the chance to contest UEFA’s second-tier club competition is an important opportunity to showcase Newcastle’s progression under manager Alan Pardew.
“Playing in Europe next season is massive for the club and massive for the players as it shows progression,” Cabaye told the club’s official website.
“We have to play in these sorts of competitions for the experience. It can only be a good thing for us as a squad.”
“And the fans will love it too. I can’t wait for a European night in our stadium – it will be great.
“It will be really important to play well in this competition and I’m sure we can do well.”
