Montpellier would accept an €18million (£15.2m) offer from Manchester United for Remy Cabella, manager Jean Fernandez has revealed.
Cabella, 23, has made a fine start to the season, scoring five goals and laying on four assists in his first eight games.
United have been linked with a potential January move for the attacking midfielder, and Fernandez – who took over at the Stade de la Mosson from Rene Girard in July – admitted they would be forced to sell Cabella if the right offer came along.
“He is an intelligent boy who has made a good start to the season,” Fernandez said.
“Now in the winter transfer window if Manchester United offers €18million, as I see it, he must go.
“Even if you ‘kill the team’, you can’t refuse.”
Fernandez is eager to get the best out of Cabella while he is at the club, and is hopeful he can flourish in his role playing behind the main striker.
“We must see if he is able to assume the responsibilities,” Fernandez added.
“If he is able to play as a number 10, these are the matches that will decide.”
