Serie A side Cagliari are struggling with limited options in midfield and are considering making a move for the Ganian international Sulley Muntari, according to Corriere dello Sport.
Seeing that Moldova international Artur Ionita had to go under the knife after picking up an injury against Bologna and that Daniele Dessena is still unavailable, Cagliari are forced to think about finding an alternative solution.
Inexperienced Alessandro Deiola has been sent out on loan to gain first-team experience and the Rossoblu have pinpointed the former Udinese, Portsmouth, Inter Milan, Sunderland and Milan midfielder Sulley Muntari as their top target.
The 32-year-old is a free agent following his departure from Saudi league team Itihad FC and is available to be registered until 31 March despite the fact summer transfer window is now closed.
Muntari’s high demands might prove to be a stumbling block for a deal with Cagliari though.
Premier League side Everton attempted to sign the Ghanian at the beginning of September but Muntari was holding on to £60,000 a week, which ultimately proved to be too much for the Toffees.
