Another coach bites the dust as Italian Serie A side Cagliari have sacked Davide Ballardini, despite succeeding in their task to remain in Italy’s top division.

According to the club, who announced the decision in an official statement on their website today, the sacking is not based on the results achieved this season:

“Cagliari and Ballardini part ways. The ideas of the coach and his demands for a new contract clashed with the board’s wishes,” the Sicilian club said.

Ballardini (43) was Cagliari’s third coach this season, joining the club in December. During these six months, he took the side from the last position to 14th place.
