Gary Cahill is set to complete his seven-million-pound move from Bolton to Chelsea in the next 48 hours, according to reports.
Goal.com understands the defender’s deal will be finalised on either Sunday or Monday.
The England international appeared in the crowd at Stamford Bridge on Saturday to watch Chelsea’s Premier League match against Sunderland after agreeing on a five-year contract with the Londoners worth 80,000 pounds-per-week.
But Chelsea officials have not yet studied the results of the medical he took at the club’s Cobham training ground and will not sign off the deal until they are completely confident about the player’s physical condition.
Cahill had been in talks with Chelsea for a fortnight after the Premier League club agreed a fee with Bolton before Christmas.
The former Aston Villa centre-back had effectively been accused by manager Andre Villas-Boas of wanting too much money but a breakthrough was reached on Friday after chief executive Ron Gourlay travelled north to break the lull in negotiations.
