Former Everton midfielder Tim Cahill has refused to rule out returning to the Premier League on loan when the transfer window reopens, Sky Sports understands.
The Australia international has scored thirteen goals in forty-three appearances for the New York Red Bulls since swapping the English top flight for the MLS last summer.
The 33 year old is keen to maintain his sharpness ahead of next summer’s World Cup finals, and could well see a short term deal, as his former Toffee’s teammate and fellow MLS star Landon Donovan did in both the 09/10 and 11/12 campaigns.
Cahill, who began his senior career with Millwall, is anticipating approaches from England while a brief return to Australia has also been mooted.
He spent over six years in South-East London before moving to Merseyside in 2004, where he scored sixty-eight goals in two hundred and seventy-eight appearances under then Everton manager David Moyes.
