Owen Coyle has confirmed Bolton defender Gary Cahill’s move to Chelsea could be completed before the end of the week.
A deal between the clubs had been agreed last month but talks over personal terms have been protracted, leaving the move in doubt but Coyle suggests the deal is almost done.
“There’s a chance the deal can be concluded by the end of the week,” Coyle said.
“That’s where we’re at but I’m not party to any continued dialogue between Chelsea and Gary’s representative.”
Coyle also confirmed Cahill will not be considered for selection for Bolton’s FA Cup tie with Macclesfield but insisted it has nothing to do with his potential departure.
“Gary Cahill will be one of those to miss out on the game, and it’s nothing to do with the continuing speculation regarding Chelsea,” he said.
“He’s one of a number of players that probably needs to rest given the amount of games they’ve played.”
