Cahill ready for ´massive rest´

Everton attacking midfielder Tim Cahill is looking forward to a ‘massive rest’ at the end of the English Premier League season.

The Australian goal sneak was on fire for the Toffees prior to Christmas, scoring nine goals, before representing his homeland at the Asian Cup throughout January.

Cahill is yet to score for David Moyes’ side since returning from helping Australia to the Asian Cup final, and the 31-year-old admitted time away from the pitch was necessary to freshen him up for another English top flight tilt.

With little on the line in Everton’s remaining two fixtures, Cahill said his substitute appearance against Manchester City on Saturday was an unnecessary risk, but worth every second as his side wrapped up a memorable win.

“I’m happy to be on the bench and coming on because three weeks ago they’d written me off and said my season was over,” Cahill said.

“Yes, I take a massive risk playing but it’s worth it on days like Saturday,” Cahill said.

“I still feel my foot injury. I’m going to have to get a massive rest in the summer but I want to be a part of these good moments and help make a change.”

“Maybe sometimes I don’t do myself justice playing because people might feel I’m unfit or not moving well, but the matter of the fact is I’m 80 percent fit.”
