According to a report from Sky Sports News, Fulham will likely not be completing a move for Gary Cahill during the January transfer window. The 33 year old appeared to be on the verge of a move to Craven Cottage, with a deal being put in place for the Cottagers to buy out the final six months of his contract until the end of the season. Alas, Cahill wants to commit to a longer contract, although he’s still fine with that being away from Stamford Bridge.
Fulham manager Claudio Ranieri questioned whether or not the Cahill deal would be possible just last week, and now, it appears as if his fears may have been correct.
Fulham still want to strengthen their back four prior to the end of the transfer window, as they find themselves in a bit of a predicament right now. They’re not necessarily guaranteed to be dropping down into the Championship, but they’re certainly one of the favourites – and with just a few months of the season remaining, they need to change something.
