Hakan Calhanoglu is set to break the hearts of AC Milan supporters by joining city rivals Inter Milan when his contract expires at the end of the month, according to multiple sources.
The Turkey international, whose involvement at the ongoing European Championship came to an end after their defeat to Switzerland on Sunday, was in talks with the Rossoneri about a new contract, but despite reports suggesting the talks were going well, it seems no agreement could be reached. Milan were apparently unwilling to go to bidding war to retain his services, and he has now agreed to join neighbours Inter, the reigning Serie A champions, as free agent.
The medical ahead of the proposed move is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, and then he’s expected to sign a contract which would see him earn around €5 million per season.
The 27-year-old winger was previously linked with Arsenal and Manchester United.
