Hamburg may have preserved their Bundesliga status, but Hakan Calhanoglu remains determined to force a move away from the club.

The 20-year-old midfielder scored 11 goals in the league for Mirko Slomka’s side last season despite their struggles, and featured in both play-off matches with Greuther Furth to decide which side would play in the top-flight next term.

Hamburg secured victory on away goals, but Calhanoglu does not want to spend another campaign at the Imtech Arena despite signing a two-year extension to his contract in February.

A move to UEFA Champions League qualifiers Bayer Leverkusen has been touted for the Turkey international, and he has his sights set on a move to the BayArena.

“It (the situation) has not changed,” he told Bild. “I am still determined to go to the new season at Bayer Leverkusen.”

Calhanoglu has also been linked with Premier League clubs Chelsea and Arsenal.
