Deportivo Cali beat Deportivo Pereira on Saturday night with an impressive 5-0 result. The goals were scored by Freddy Montero (three), Sergio Herrera, and Carlos Ramirez (own goal). Cali are now in second place while Pereira are down in 12th.

Saturday night was electric in Cali. The home team started the game on a poor level and Pereira had control over the first few minutes. But it was in the seventh minute that Freddy Montero opened the score after a corner kick.

The match turned pale for about 15 minutes with Cali creating all types of attacks. Freddy Montero was successful again in minute 32, 2-0 to Cali.

Only three minutes later, Montero scored his third goal, 3-0. At minute 42 Sergio Herrera left Colombia’s world famous goalkeeper Rene Higuita without a chance when he scored the fourth goal. Deportivo Pereira’s Carlos Ramirez went on to score an own goal for a 5-0 final result.

Deportivo Cali are now in second place behind Deportes Tolima and will be visiting Cucuta next weekend. Deportivo Pereira are scheduled to face another troubled side, La Equidad.
