Cambiasso: No crisis at Inter

(GSM) – Internazionale midfielder Esteban Cambiasso has insisted that reports of a crisis at the defending champions camp have been greatly exaggerated.

The Nerazzurri have begun to struggle of late despite cruising in most part of their domestic campaign.

Despite wining just three of their last ten league games, Cambiasso believes that his team-mates have what it takes to win all their remaining games and claim a fourth successive Serie A title.

Defeat to Roma last week meant the side from the capital moved to within a point of Jose Mourinho’s charges, and the Giallorossi kept up the pressure with a hard-fought victory at Bari on Saturday.

But Inter responded to last week’s defeat with a win of their own, a comfortable 3-0 victory over Bologna at the San Siro, and Cambiasso believes reports of Inter’s demise are not accurate.

“We only really played badly in one game,” Cambiasso said. “You need to analyse every individual match rather than a trend. For example, we were held at Parma when their goalkeeper was Man of the Match, drew at a very tough arena like Napoli’s Stadio San Paolo and earned a point against Sampdoria when reduced to nine men.

“For some time I have heard this talk of crisis and I can assure you I wish we always had a crisis like this! The only game Inter played below par was the 0-0 with Genoa. In terms of purely football, Inter have been doing very well recently. It was only a mini-crisis of results.”

A brace from Thiago Motta and a goal from the much-maligned Mario Balotelli secured all three points for Inter on Saturday, with Cambiasso claiming that Inter were good value for their victory.

“We dominated the 90 minutes with great football, character and attitude. It was a thoroughly deserved victory,” he said. “We still feel strong, as we are the Serie A leaders and, knowing it won’t be easy, we are also aware that if we win all the remaining games then we’ll be Champions of Italy.

“Waiting for the other side’s results is futile, as we can’t do anything about that. We must focus on our own results and try to get all three points every time.

“Roma have a slight advantage over us because they are out of the Europa League and so have more energy to focus on Serie A and the Coppa Italia, whereas we also have the Champions League.”
