Esteban Cambiasso’s injury could well force Inter to speed up their bid for Real Madrid’s Wesley Sneijder, hints Jose Mourinho. Cambiasso sustained ligament damage to his knee during the Trofeo TIM and will require keyhole surgery that will keep him out for at the very least six weeks. “It is difficult to do without Cambiasso, although I can say that Patrick Vieira did his duty in filling in,†commented the Coach after the 1-0 friendly win over Bahrain.
“The most logical solution would be moving Dejan Stankovic back into midfield, but then who is going to play as a trequartista – me?!â€Â. Mourinho has been very vocal in his demands for a new player in that position and Cambiasso’s injury could force the issue, as it rules Stankovic out of the equation. Inter have shown an interest in Real Madrid benchwarmer Sneijder, but have so far been reticent to increase the price tag. It is reported that there will be a transfer summit today between President Massimo Moratti and technical director Marco Branca to discuss their strategy.
