Cameroon moved to within two points of Group A leaders Gabon on Saturday, defeating them 2-0 in a crucial African World Cup qualifier.
The Indomitable Lions came out of the gates strong knowing three points were a must to keep their qualification hopes strong, but the Gabonese defense held firm, frustrating the Cameroon attack until the 66th minute.
Achille Emana fired in a wonderful shot from a tough angle that was out of the reach for Gabon goalkeeper Didier Ovono, giving Cameroon a precious lead. Two minutes later, Inter Milan striker Samuel Eto’o put the game away with a beautiful strike that curled past Ovono.
Through three games apiece, Gabon sit on six points with Cameroon and Togo on four. Togo and Morocco, who sit on two points, are set to face off on Sunday.
