Cameroon and Gabon were both victorious in African World Cup qualifying Group A on Saturday to set up a dramatic final qualifiyng day in November.
Cameroon’s 3-0 victory over Togo kept them one point ahead of Gabon, who were 3-1 winners over Morocco. The final set of matches takes place on 14 November.
Cameroon 3-0 Togo
Gérémi fired the home side in front just past the half-hour, and Jean Makoun doubled the advantage for Paul Le Guen’s men in the 34th minute after some slack Togolese defending.
Togo, who are out of the running to qualify for their second straight finals, then conceded a third goal in the 52nd minute when Achille Emana completed the rout in Yaoundé.
Gabon 3-1 Morocco
It appeared the match in Libreville would go to the break scoreless, but Morocco gifted Gabon the lead just before the break as Hicham Mahdoufi touched a cross into his own net.
Eric Mouloungui made it 2-0 in the 71st minute, and Hull City striker Daniel Cousin made it three just five minutes later before Adel Taarabt scored in stoppage time for Morocco.
