(GSM) – Veteran defender Sol Campbell is excited ahead of making his debut with Newcastle United against Blackpool on Saturday.
Campbell played for the Toon reserve-team against Liverpool on Tuesday night and admits he cannot wait to be called on for first-team action by manager Chris Hughton.
The former Arsenal defender, who joined Newcastle on a free transfer in July, is hoping to feature in Toon’s clash against fellow Premier League new-boys Blackpool at St James’ Park.
“I’m going to keep on pushing,” Campbell told Chronicle Live. “I’m in with a shout, I just have to keep training hard now.
“Once you have the minutes under your belt you just have to wait for the call from the gaffer.
“I needed to get the minutes, and that’s what it is all about really.
“I’m getting those minutes and I’m getting stronger and stronger.”
