Corinthians will face Santos in the final of the Campeonato Paulista after a 6-5 penalty shoot-out win over Palmeiras on Sunday.
Luiz Felipe Scolari’s men were brave but unsuccessful after being reduced to 10 men in the 23rd minute, going ahead for a short period before being pegged back.
Defender Danilo was shown a straight red card midway through the first half, but his side still went ahead seven minutes after the interval.
Centre-back Leandro Amaro opened the scoring before Corinthians substitute Willian levelled on 64 minutes.
It was the striker’s second goal in as many games, with the 25-year-old having scored the winner in the quarter-final defeat of Oeste last Saturday.
With the scores locked at 1-1, it came down to spot-kicks and Corinthians held their nerve to record a 6-5 win.
They will meet reigning champions Santos in the final.
