Sao Paolo, Corinthians and Americana all made winning starts to their Campeonato Paulista campaigns on Sunday.

Sao Paolo defeated Mogi Mirim 2-0 at the Estadio Romildo Vitor Gomes Ferreira.

Veteran goalkeeper Rogerio Ceni opened the scoring from the penalty spot four minutes in, before Marcelinho Paraiba made sure of the win with an 87th minute strike.

First-half goals from Paulinho and former Brazil international Roberto Carlos helped Corinthians account for Portuguesa 2-0 at the Estadio Municipal Paulo Machado de Carvalho.

Americana edged visitors Bragantino 1-0, with Marcinho netting the game’s only goal 33 minutes in at the Estadio Dr. Augusto Schmidt Filho.

Mirassol came from a goal down to beat Ponte Preta 2-1.

Leandro Silva drew first blood for the visitors in the 47th minute at the Estadio Jose Maria de Campos Maia, but Xuxa levelled just three minutes later before notching the winner with 20 minutes remaining.

Two goals in the second half from Rychely helped Santo Andre come from behind twice to draw 2-2 away to Noroeste.

Marcio Gabriel put the home side in front 24 minutes in at the Estadio Dr. Alfredo de Castilho, but Rychely equalised in the 54th minute.

It took less than 60 seconds for Da Silva to restore Noroeste’s advantage, but Rychely struck again just after the hour mark to secure a draw for Santo Andre.

First-half strikes from Barboza and Hernane gave Paulista a 2-0 lead at home Ituano.

The visitors pulled one back through Oliveira, but were not able to prevent the hosts from taking all three points in front of their own fans at the Estadio Dr. Jayme Pinheiro de Ulhoa Cintra.
