Wantaway striker Carlos Tevez has apologised to Manchester City for his behaviour in recent weeks and months.
The striker has been on strike in his homeland for the last few months and was hit with a big money fine for his behaviour.
Sorry
They say sorry is the hardest word to say. Well Tevez has apparently apologised to City boss Roberto Mancini over his behaviour and he wants to play for the Citizens again. It seems that Mancini is set to give the striker another chance in his squad.
Disruption
According to Manchester City defender Joleon Lescott, Carlos Tevez’s return won’t disrupt the City squad. The ex-Everton player told Sky Sports: “No-one here sees Carlos as a disruption,”
“If we can all get together and push in the same direction I am sure it’s a positive for the club.
“With us, Carlos has never been an issue, and we are confident that if he does get his chance, he will score a lot of goals.”
Positive
Can the 28 year-old’s return to the squad be a positive? Since he’s been away the team has carried on nicely, remaining top of the league and looking like they will claim the Premier League title. His absence hasn’t seemed to have affected the teams performance.
However could his presence in the dressing room harm the squads morale? I don’t think his teammates will really have a problem with Carlos Tevez returning to the City squad and his manager seems to have made peace with the Argentinian international.
Fans
The people that seem to have the biggest problem with Tevez’s return is the City fans. There are very mixed opinions on whether he should be allowed to wear the blue shirt again. Some fans are glad he’s back but other fans really don’t want him representing their club again.
Talent
There is no doubt that Carlos Tevez is a very talented footballer on his day. He works hard, has good technical ability and is a match winner. He will give Roberto Mancini another striking option with important games coming up in the Premier League title race.
The Italian has stated that he needs four strikers and Tevez is still regarded by him as that fourth man. Mancini is obviously prepared to forgive and forget for the sake of having another talented player available to him.
Stance
Manchester City had to be seen to take a stance against Tevez’s petulance and I admire them for the stance they took. The Citizens allowed him to sulk but fined him while he was sulking. I believe this may have taught Tevez the error of his ways.
Whether it was Tevez or his advisors that wanted him to apologise is a different matter but something had to be done because Tevez was wasting his talent sitting doing absolutely nothing. This was the only course of action he could have taken.
Window
Tevez hasn’t made any secret of his desire to leave Manchester City. He didn’t get a move in the January transfer window so he was in limbo. His return to the Manchester City first team squad will give him the chance to put himself in the shop window for the summer.
City fans might not think that this is right but if he wants to secure a move then he will have to play well to prove to potential suitors that he is worth signing. Playing well for City will help everybody and maybe this whole tedious saga will have a satisfactory ending, with Carlos Tevez helping Manchester City win silverware this season.
Can Carlos Tevez’s return have a positive effect on Manchester City?
