Hull City hosts Tottenham at the KC Stadium on Sunday in the early kick-off badly in need of a win that would kick-start their season.

The Tigers are currently just two points clear of the Premier League relegation zone, after a 1-0 defeat at struggling Burnley last time out in the top-flight.

Poor

Hull’s form is poor at the moment as the Tigers have claimed just one victory in their last six Premier League games and lost three of those, including the last two.

Prior to those defeats Steve Bruce’s side claimed creditable draws at Arsenal and Liverpool.

Inconsistent

Tottenham have started the campaign in inconsistent form, so much so that the team from north London are just two points above Sunday’s opponents in 12th position in the Premier League table.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side have won four out of their last six games in all competitions, but only one of those victories has come in the Premier League. The latest run of six games included home defeats against Newcastle and Stoke last time out.

Criticism

Tottenham’s inconsistent run of form has led to criticism of boss Mauricio Pochettino, with some Spurs fans already asking if the Argentinian is the right man to move the club forward. The former-Southampton boss has even been booed by his own fans.

The Argentine’s style of play does not seem to be appreciated by their fans at the moment and the team’s Premier League form is very inconsistent.

Chance

The current Hull City side does not lack quality and a home game against an inconsistent Spurs side is the perfect chance for the Tigers to pick-up maximum points. A win will mean that they leapfrog their opponents in the Premier League table.

The Tigers have struggled against Spurs in the last five games, losing three and drawing two of those five clashes.

Former-Players

Three former-Tottenham players could line-up against their former-club, in the shape of Michael Dawson, Tom Huddlestone and Jake Livermore. All three have won international caps for England, but were deemed surplus to requirements at White Hart Lane.

Both Huddlestone and Livermore are highly-rated midfielders and signing the pair was quite a coup for the Tigers. They have the talent to form a very good central midfield partnership, but for some reason at the moment it is just not happening for the pair.

However, the law of the ex-player could very well apply in this fixture, as both Huddlestone and Livermore could be key players against their former-club.

Dawson has been a very solid performer for Tottenham for nearly a decade. What he lacks in pace he makes up for in work rate and positioning. Injuries have affected his career, but he could also be a key player for the Tigers, not only in this game, but for the rest of the campaign.

Underperforming

Hull now have a very decent squad of players and every transfer window seem to improve the quality of their squad. In many ways the Tigers are underachieving and underperforming this season. They have enough quality in their ranks to claim a comfortable midtable position.

The draws against the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool proved that they can up their game when they need to, but they really need to improve their performances in the next few weeks to move up the table.

Favourites

Despite Spurs inconsistent form this season, the visitors are favourites to claim victory at the KC Stadium at odds of 6/5. However, Spurs have been very unpredictable this season and you just never know what Spurs team will turn up.

Everybody connected with Hull will be hoping that Tottenham have one of their off days, as the Tigers are really in need of a win and a run of form to move away from the Premier League relegation zone.
