West Ham United travel to the King Power Stadium to face Leicester City on Saturday, December 31. The Londoners boast the superior form of the two sides, but beating the Premier League defending champions in their own backyard is no easy task.
However, with United enjoying an upturn in form on the road while their goal-shy opposition are porous at the back, could this weekend’s Premier League clash at the King Power see West Ham beating the champions?
Leicester now struggling for form at home
Leicester City’s away form was poor from the get-go this season, but now the Foxes are struggling in their own backyard. Claudio Ranieri’s side have managed only two home wins in the Premier League since September, dropping points to the likes of Southampton, West Bromwich Albion, Middlesbrough and Everton since.
Ahead of Saturday’s meeting with the Hammers, Leicester have managed just one win at the King Power Stadium since October, and can’t seem to shut sides out like they were doing on a regular basis in their title-winning season. City haven’t kept a clean sheet in their last five home games, and have instead conceded nine goals for their troubles.
Goal-shy City could struggle to break down formidable Hammers
Leicester aren’t scoring many goals at the other end while West Ham’s defence has been more resilient than ever. The home side have failed to score in two of their last three Premier League games, bagging one or less goals in 12 of their 18 outings this season. West Ham are looking solid after a slow start to the campaign which could be bad news for the Foxes.
United have conceded just one goal in their last three games and have picked up their form in recent weeks too. Slaven Bilic’s men have won three on the bounce in the Premier League, losing only to Everton, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal since September. West Ham have shone on the road too, picking up points to Manchester United at Old Trafford, Liverpool at Anfield and beating Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium.
West Ham United don’t have a bad record against Leicester City in domestic competitions either, having drawn at the King Power Stadium in April last season and beating them at Upton Park the campaign previous. When both clubs were in the Championship, it was West Ham who won two and drawn two of four head-to-heads with Leicester City so they may fancy their chances of an away win on Saturday. West Ham are 27/10 to win against Leicester City. Can they deliver?
